Magnolia

Magnolia ‘Butterfly’

One of the earliest and finest yellow-flowered Magnolias, ‘Butterflies’ is an tree of breathtaking beauty when in full bloom. Masses of tulip-shaped, rich canary yellow flowers, 10-13 cm across, appear in mid spring before the new leaves unfurl. Inside are contrasting red stamens and a lemony fragrance.

Magnolia ‘Elizabeth’

‘Elizabeth’ is a hybrid Magnolia. Introduced by the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in 1978, this is one of the first yellow Magnolias to hit the horticultural market. This Magnolia makes a wonderful specimen or multi-stemmed tree.

A gorgeous large primrose yellow flowering Magnolia that fade to cream. Foliage emerges bronze, then to dark green before fading to yellow in the Autumn. An all round winner.

Magnolia ‘Star Wars’

Magnolia ‘Star Wars’ is a small deciduous tree adorned with a profusion of huge, fragrant, rosy-pink flowers in mid to late spring. Each blossom, up to 28 cm across that splay out gracefully as the flower matures. Deeper pink flushed at their base, the tepals are lighter on the inside. It’s a stunner.

Magnolia stellata

Magnolia stellata with its pure white star-like flowers is one of the smaller growing deciduous Magnolias, reaching around 3m at best. The flowers open a pure white, almost covering the tree during spring. It is a stunning display. Ours is still a bit young but it is certainly something to look forward to.

Magnolia ‘Vulcan’

Magnolia Vulcan is another wonderful Magnolia for the garden as it is a small grower. The flowers the Vulcan Magnolia are large and fragrant and a wonderful deep magenta/red. The beauty of this tree is also in the fact that it flowers well as a young tree and flowers early in the season. In fact, it is the first Magnolia to flower in our garden usually.
